  • Breath-centered Yoga practices that meet the way in which anxiety shows up in our bodies

New Moon Healing Sessions: Meditation Acupuncture Singing Bowls

to Apr 23

New Moon Healing Sessions: Meditation Acupuncture Singing Bowls

  • Hawthorne Holistic Health (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

A restorative combination of Yoga nidra (guided meditation), acupuncture and singing bowl sound healing in a small group setting.

Attendees will rest on a yoga mat for a simple, energy balancing acupuncture treatment. They will be lead through Yoga Nidra, a relaxing guided meditation, followed by a deep savasana (rest) which will be accompanied by the healing vibrations of singing bowls.

The yoga nidra will be lead by Amy Gaster, a celebrated local yoga instructor and yoga therapist. She leads classes as well as private yoga sessions and brings her unique bouquet of joy, presence, honesty and mindfulness to everything she does. Dr. Chimileski will be performing the acupuncture and singing bowls. Participants can join for one session or all four. This is a reserve ahead event only.

...WHY THE NEW MOON THOUGH?
The new moon symbolizes new beginnings. It provides us with a moment of calm, quiet reflection- simply imagine staring deep into the endless, midnight blue, star-filled sky when there is no competing moonlight. It is time for self care and to refresh your intentions, dreams, goals and desires. Living in harmony with nature, the (literally) universal cycles of the moon and changing seasons is not something most think about any more. Yet, in all traditional healing paradigms, it is essential for a balanced, healthy life. We wish to return awareness to the natural world we are a part of and benefit from its many ebbs and flows, rather than fight them.

We aim to build a community that can prioritize the importance of reflection [yin] for productivity, goal setting and growth [yang]; rather than the eternal go-go-go and still always feeling behind. (Plus, overachiever pro-tip here: this helps you actually achieve more).

We hope to help create space for this- in your hectic day, busy minds and restless bodies.

(Mats, blanket, pillows and blocks will be provided).
Reclining chairs may be used in special circumstances if requested in advance.

Yoga for Low Back care series class

This is a 4 Week Series happening on Mondays at Rise Yoga from 4:30PM - 5:45PM.

Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most common causes of disability. Good news! Studies show LBP responds well to yoga. More and more doctors are recommending patients to Yoga to help treat their Low back pain, and more and more people are seeking alternative ways to manage their pain.

This class is designed for beginners or seasoned practitioners. Already taking Yoga classes? Great, in this class you can learn ways to protect your low back during other Yoga classes. If on the other hand, you are not attending Yoga because it is not suited to care for your back, then this is the class for you!

The setting is a small group so that there is more space to modify the practice to fit your needs. The breathing practices, relaxation, and yoga postures are designed specifically to care for our spine. The intention is to empower and educate us to move in a way that nourishes the spine and what movements may aggravate the spine; during pain or preventatively. At the end of each class there will be sufficient time to rest, inviting our bodies to come into a state of relaxation, where healing occurs.

Class agenda:
-Learn ways to become empowered to protect your low back during yoga class or home practice.
-Learn yoga poses that can provide relief to various types of low back pain.
-Learn simple tips to keep your back safe in daily life
-Discuss common low back pathologies, and how it may affect your practice.
-Enjoy a sweet Savasana to seal off the practice
